Here’s a lovely little EP of sunshiney indie pop from Shorts, which features former Scott & Charlene’s Weddinger Mikael Caterer and a Brooklyn-based collection of buddies from bands like Real Estate and Alex Bleeker and the Freaks and Titus Andronicus.

There are four tracks here and they’re pretty varied. For starters, ‘Berlin 1971’ is a hazy Real Estate meets the La’s shuffle full of twinkly Johnny Marr guitar and breathy vocal harmonies and soft synth strings. It’s really nice, very catchy. Then ‘Happy 10th Birthday’ is a weird lo-fi bedroom miniature full of sabotaged synths and a hesitant, glitching drum machine, pretty trippy.

Overleaf ‘Wonder (I Just Wanna)’ continues with the programmed drums but takes us into a shimmering shoegaze territory with sheets of indistinct, glassy guitar and distant, reverbed-to-hell vocals, before things get much crisper for the bouncy, whimsical closer ‘She Feels the Sting’, which is the track on here which most closely resembles Caterer’s previous band, just breezy and likeable indie pop. Solid EP featuring some trusted faces.
