Here's an EP of early-'90s style guitar rock from Christian Beaulieu of Triclops!, who also plays in Anywhere with Minuteman M-Watt and Mars the Drive-Through's C-Bix. Here's an EP of early-'90s style guitar rock from Christian Beaulieu of Triclops!, who also plays in Anywhere with Minuteman M-Watt and Mars the Drive-Through's C-Bix. This is back to basics grungey power pop with more than a small nod to Husker Du in its big thick guitar tones and crashing momentum, but melodic slightly nasal vocals like Superchunk.   It's reminding me of the dreamier end of early Sub Pop too, there are places which sound quite a lot like Love Battery. They're certainly not trying to re-write the rule book here but as a loving pastiche of that sweaty and earnest era it's pretty solid, and as a grunge kid at heart I'm finding plenty to like here, particularly when they let it all hang out on 'Corpse Reviver' with its filthy TAD-like riff. One of the most convincingly authentic of the recent grunge-revival records I've heard. Will appeal to fans of Milk Music, Green Dreams, Dope Body and other such neo-grungers.
