- The Case Of The Bloody Iris by Bruno Nicolai
8/10 Clinton Staff review, 23 May 2014
Everyone knows that the best 'incidental' music was performed by Ronnie Hazlehust; the theme tune from 'Sorry' is a career highlight sharing its DNA with both Boards of Canada's 'Roygbiv' AND Carly Simon's 'Why'.
Running Ronnie fairly close, however, is Bruno Nicolai with this soundtrack to 'The Case of the Bloody Iris' (oooph bloody Iris!). Its a mixture of sweet easy listening orchestral stuff intertwined with some drum heavy freakouts. The mood shifting between perky upbeat roller skating music to sinister wigouts with some fearsomely dark strings at work. Yes at the end of the day its just well executed cocktail jazz but its easy on the ear and all beautifully presented in a full colour 10" sleeve.
