Careful not to confuse this with the Bok Bok that featured The Fall drummer Karl Burns which we were selling on Record Store Day. This is a different proposition altogether. A duo who make a suprisingly enjoyable blend of musics you may not necessarily ever think about putting together. Due to the vague labelling/me being stupid I've listened to the second track 'Howard' first and its a rather exhilerating stuttery ride, marrying some 80's electro-production with the bass-lines and jagged rhythms of dub step. Certainly sounding not unlike a cut and spliced take on Arif Mardin's mid 80's production work with the likes of Scritti Politti, sans vocals and adding in some wobbly sub bass.

Back to the start and 'Melba's Call' uses a much brighter more modern approach with a soulful vocal which to me detracts from the complicated production which you really need to keep your ear on. 'Funkiest' strips it back to those mid 80's drum machines and basslines, closer 'Da Foxtrot' is more club friendly with some smooth housey moves and warm rhodes piano chords topped off with the odd 80's r&b vocal sample. An interesting double 12" cleverly marrying a series of styles into something genuinely new.
