Aw, this is just sad. ‘We On 1’ must have been the last agreed release prior to DJ Rashad’s recent death (though I might be wrong there???) stemming from a complication with a blood clot in his leg. Aw, this is just sad. ‘We On 1’ must have been the last agreed release prior to DJ Rashad’s recent death (though I might be wrong there???) stemming from a complication with a blood clot in his leg. Nothing worse than seeing a talent like DJ Rashad pass before his time. Truly heartbreaking.

On a plus, this is a sick EP. Opener ‘We On 1’ is a masterclass in footwork minimalism. The subs are mental and, though I can pass on the subject matter, it’s a truly mesmerising cut. One of his best. DJ Spinn collab ‘Come On Girl’ is a little crude in terms of it’s vocal samples too but its take on bumpin’ club music is to be commended. Ghetto house jamz are uz!

Flip it and you get another DJ Spinn collab with assistance from DJ Manny and it’s a real treat, bringing a little southern something something to the footwork blueprint. Then there’s the true winner ‘Somethin ‘Bout The Things U Do’! This post hi-tech soul Gant-Man collab is a totally bizarre party jam making absolutely insane use of a Chaka Khan’s ‘I Feel For You’ (a classic in it’s right...written by Prince and ft. Melle Mel on raps and Stevie Wonder on harmonica!). Pure creative genius at play here. So sad.
