Isobel Ccircle is the duo of Matt Bower and April Larson and they've got a new CD of highly intoxicating psychedelic dark ambient filth on Exotic Pylon this week. It's a lengthy and squalid fever dream of chirps and buzzes and hums and field recordings and radio crackles expertly designed to cling limpet-like onto your subconscious in a strange and hypnotic fug of drones and chills.   It has a nice mixture of evil-sounding background clutter and slowly unfolding melodies which drift between unsettling dischord and moments of subtle uplift - it's not relentlessly bleak and it's never seriously harsh, but there's an air of foreboding running through these sparsely populated compositions, sort of a mixture of A Winged Victory For The Sullen's purity and the foreboding textures of someone like Decimus. It's making me feel like I'm lost in some lawless, decaying post-apocalyptic future, wandering through vast overgrown cities full of ghosts. Really immersive and often unsettling stuff.
