Sitting along the shore of the grey lonesome North Sea, you can almost see H. Usui on a Persian carpet with all his instruments, slowly plucking at the banjo in a soulful manner. Why is this record called Sings the Blues? It is a sad, introverted album, without the familiar sounds of the blues. Yet nonetheless, it can provide a comparable comfort.
