Acid legend Ed "DMX Krew" Upton keeps on churning 'em out, and this week we've got a new six-tracker from him that goes out to all the electro purists. 'Crawl Space' opens very strongly with crisp head-nodding beats and a cheeky little 808 bassline along with some bright staccato synth chords and a cute subtle little squelchy squiggle that turns up halfway through and starts chirping along. Classy and restrained but also super fun.

That's pretty much the order of the day for the whole EP. These tracks aren't quite as exuberantly acidy as much of Upton's work, instead opting for a measured '80s electro cool, but those who love the way he makes synths wiggle and chirrup will still be able to find a fair dose of his trademark squiggliness and of course all the melodies are subtly infectious but never out-and-out cheesy. A tidy little EP, this. I'd definitely listen to it again.
