7/10 Customer review, 7th June 2015

If the idea of modern folk makes you feel a bit sick because it brings to mind the likes of Mumford & Sons, then perhaps you should give this a try. The Rails are a duo made up of Kami Thompson and James Walbourne. The emphasis here is on the Thompson, Kami being daughter of folk-rock’s king and queen Richard & Linda Thompson. “Fair Warning” does sound quite a lot like one of Ma and Pa’s ‘70s efforts. Whilst not quite hitting the heights of classics like “Calvary Cross” and “I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight” it is very accomplished and consistent stuff. Thompson and Walbourne’s voices suit each other well. Kami Thompson does sound a lot like her mum, but that’s to be expected. Good stuff.
