9/10 Ian Staff review, 25 April 2014
Shaun Crook, Darren Clark and Alex Delfont are Imprints, a group of friends who mash up various pieces of equipment like tape machines, synths, guitar pedals and the like to form a blur of gnarly ambient soundscapes. Released on the Serein label, ‘Data Trails’ has a real organic and almost live feel to it’s madcap improvisation, ‘Horror Birds’ is a heavy drone piece that drills it’s way into your skull and then what follows on ‘Longshore Drift’ is a deep bass affair with strong jazz overtones.
This is an almost chaotic mix of ambient drone and improvised electronic noise making that glues together the experimentalism of say John Cage or Holger Czukay with modern electronic techniques, it has a much more melodic structure and flow with the warmth of artists like Hakobune or Mountains that give this chaos and noise a much more user-friendly outlook.
I can only imagine that this would be a wonder to see in a live setting with a mass of electronic equipment, reel to reel tape machines and wires strewn everywhere, absolutely marvelous stuff!

THIS FUCKING DESTROYS! and I would give my right bollock to hear "horror birds " live!
This makes me feel like a giant robot that can shoot fire out of my hands - i have told Imprints this and they seemed cool with that.
If you buy one noise/drone/swelling sound cd created on analogue machines this year- do yourself a favour and make it this!!!!
