- De-Loused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta
9/10 Jonathan Fieldhouse Customer review, 12th August 2014
While their second album, Frances the Mute, is arguably their most ambitious and well crafted album, De-Loused in the Comatorium certainly holds strong as it's closest competition and classic in it's own right.
Mixing a huge variety of styles and sounds to a progressive punk rock and latin amibition, The Mars Volta created a passionate and inspired album, overflowing with atmosphere and emotion. From the manic and anxious opening track to the tragic closing of the album, De-Loused is a voyage into the depths of human consciousness and emotion. The sporadic and spastic guitar work and passionate, out of left field vocals, create incredibly unique hooks that keep the listener coming back over and over to experience what they stir up inside. The album is full of explosive choruses, psychadellic jams and fantastic musicianship. It is huge immersive experience, but definitely worth it for someone with an open mind.
10/10 Jasper Tandy Customer review, 15th July 2014
In many ways, this is a seminal album for me. It completely transformed my music taste and blew the doors open for so many different types of music I'd never even considered before. It somehow manages to be completely accessible without ever feeling dumbed-down. The whole thing is a masterpiece from start to finish, and this pressing does all that justice. The artwork is brilliant, and it sounds like I've never heard it before. If you're looking for something new, if you've always wanted to give it a listen but never have, or if you've loved it for years, I'm willing to bet this would be a great purchase for you.
9/10 Maciej Sekowski Customer review, 12th June 2014
What can I say about the record everyone knows and values high (despite the beings on crazy planet Mars, I suppose)? So maybe a bit about this very release and the Norman Records experience. I have been waiting for it for years and finally got it for the decent price, not on picture disc and cheaply shipped to far-east country called Poland. I think it sums it up. Great record, nice price, secure shipping and PERFECT contact. Not to mention patience while my bad memory almost blew the order up with not paying in time. Thanks Guys! =]
