8/10 Clinton Staff review, 09 May 2014

Languishing in the pile marked ‘don’t bother reviewing’ was this little gem of an electronic record. Starting with a lengthy buzz, opener ‘Wave to Beat’ gives way to Meguro IO6’ which is a lovely slab of motorik kraut-tronica most reminicent of Kraftwerk at their most futuristic. Not dissimilar is 'Becha -Kpacha’ which follows on from the retro-nostalgic sounds of the accurately named ‘Retro 2038’ album from 2012, building up a series of blippy clipped synths culminating in pummeling micro futuristic melodies. The result is a kind of modern day take on those pre Human League synth experiments but shot through with discipline and attention to detail of the Mille Plateaux ‘Clicks & Cuts’ series.
