Here's a six-song mini-album of Spanish-language dreampop which is in thrall to British bands of the early '90s, specifically Lush, MBV and Ride. It's a very well-realised stab at it too, with warm shuddering Spacemen 3 drones and liquid walls of guitar distortion providing a dramatic backdrop for singer Eva's sweet and soft vocals. It's a sleepy but aggressive sound that ensures that these songs never get the chance to get boring, aided in no small part by an impressive bag of hooks.
'Lo Siento Mucho' is a highlight, with wistful echoed vocals and gliding synths giving the verses a bit of a Cocteau Twins feel before a crunchy gust of guitar noise drifts devastatingly over it like a fog. The rough and smooth tones are very cleverly played off against one another and the vocal melody is sad and memorable. The whole EP is quite upbeat, bright and melodic but with that nostalgic, yearning indie rock sound of 20 years ago underpinning it all. Lovely shoepop niceness that wears its influences on its sleeve.
