And so I go from La Roux to Noxagt in one move. “The worst one-note rubbish you’ve ever heard in your life” not my words, the words of the ‘alternative rock’ band Hundred Reasons in an aricle printed on the back of the sleeve. Good to see Noxagt have a sense of humour about it all.
This is a pile of live stuff from various points in their career. Generally consisting on blugeoning bass and drums, feedback drenched violin and a general air of chaos, the band certainly have roots in post-hardcore but liven it up with the distorted violin thing creating a droning screeching counterpoint. Its a racket but certainly not a bad racket.
Certainly not for the fainthearted, the recording quality varies from dustbin to lawnmower lid. Mike takes on their latest album elsewhere this week so I’ll shut up now and try to shake my ears back to normal.
