The mind-bending future pop of Islaja's latest offering just had me come over all weird but I'm re-fortifying myself now with a dose of hot coffee and my latest prescription of bombastic stoner rock from riff doctors Holy Mountain. Yup, if it's heavy psychedelia you're after then you can never go far wrong with this lot, and they're blowing away the cobwebs straight away with their head-nodding riffs and bone-shaking dynamic shifts.

The title track is particularly fun, starting out as a monolithic post-metal repeato-riffer with droney vocals, then unexpectedly bursting into a flurry of thrash silliness and then settling into Harvey Milk swagger and cheeseball blues licks, it's a confusing three-movement odyssey that delights in the unexpected and the childlike indulgence of that bombastic thrash attack is pretty infectious.

I think that cheekiness kind of sums up what I'm enjoying most about this latest album. Holy Mountain sound like they're relaxing and enjoying themselves, throwing in some fun thrash and glam influences, generally not taking themselves too seriously. They're not re-writing the rule book here but they've made a cavernous-sounding and thoroughly enjoyable album with a sense of humour and a bottomless bag of riffs.
