On the sleeve of this cult classic is a semi naked woman, with a strategically placed ‘banned in 31 countries’ banner covering her boobies, she’s in almost certain impending doom surrounded by a load of ne’er-do-wells with pointy spears. However you perceive yourself in life you should be grateful you are not this poor woman though at least her modesty has been retained. Thank heavens for small mercies. I’ve never seen this film (though I have seen one of the cannibal films which I seem to remember was both brutal and a bit shit) and I expect this to be the same.

Musically if you’re expecting doom and gloom then you’re in the wrong place. Despite the obvious shock tactics employed to get folks down to the video shop (remember the days!) this is reasonably jaunty. It reminds me a lot of the 'Zombi 2' soundtrack by Fabio Frizzi. You get a bit of 70’s disco cheese, something a bit darker, some cosmic synth action, some more disco and the cycle continues. It’s a bit like a 70’s porn soundtrack without the humpy noises.

It’s fancily packaged in a tip-on gatefold sleeve with obi strip and it features extensive liner notes from a bunch of more knowledgable people than me.
