Me and Third Man have had a bumpy history, but I think I can finally say that I'm quite strongly behind their 'Live at Third Man' series, which is now churning out full length LPs from all your favourite bands like a grungey production line. This week there's power-pop supergroup the Divine Fits and grunge legends Mudhoney which I'm sure you'll agree is a very tasty pairing indeed.

In fact if you were looking for a definitive "sound of grunge" I've always thought these guys pretty much nailed it, and the evidence is right here on this album. They barrel through nine of their own and a Cheater Slicks one with a roaring abandon, mixing classics with newer numbers in a way which really makes me appreciate that they're still just as good as they ever were. 'In 'N' Out Of Grace' is a particularly good cut, shivering and shaking with tense nervous energy and then exploding into a messy psychedelic freakout.

You pretty much know what this'll sound like already though. It's like a Mudhoney concert, but on a record. I actually like it more than their most recent studio effort.
