Here’s an EP of laid back indie-pop from Forest, a Cambridge troupe who have recorded this with the assistance of “legendary producer Dave Allen”, not to be confused with legendary fuzz guitarist Davie Allen (or the comedian Dave Allen-Clint). It’s strident and hook-laden indie pop with a bit of a second Strokes album feel to it, everyone’s playing quite hard and crunchy but the melodies themselves are soft and pleasant.

The singer’s voice is annoying me a bit but this is unlikely to be a problem for people who don’t find Vampire Weekend and The Strokes annoying. I’m finding it strangely endearing but in the way where it reminds me of bands I’d have watched on the second stage at V98 when I was a kid rather than reminding me of bands I would listen to now for fun. It’s not offensive but it’s for the kids, isn’t it?
