5/10 Mark Customer review, 29th April 2014

I heard this band for the first time through one of my RSS feeds for new releases and really liked the track 'Funny' so had high hopes for the rest of the album. However, on playing Underneath the Rainbow I was disappointed to find its just another college rock band mashing together odd lyrics with some generally forgettable tunes. To be fair I would miss not being able to add 'Funny' and the slow/moody 'Boys in the Wood' to my playlist but beyond that there is little here to get immersed in. On the other hand if you love college rock the Black Lips slightly edgy vocal might make your day.

8/10 Rob Gannon Customer review, 30th March 2014

"Underneath The Rainbow accurately capture Black Lips as the good-time bros they are - kicking back, getting high and getting liquored at the fringes of society– a neat summation of the band’s career as a whole if ever there were one. Their crown may not be a halo but it remains in place." For the full review see: http://www.sicmagazine.net/7348/black-lips-underneath-the-rainbow/
