Istanbul 70 is an intriguing and at times bizarre snapshot of the disco, rock, psych and folk that was occurring in Turkey during the 1970s. Popular Turkish musician Cem Karaca growls and grunts his way through opener ‘Nem Alacak Felik Benim’. The track is as good/bad as you might envisage -- the rest of the album follows suit. Other highlights include Baris Manco’s hymnal-pysch-funk in "Bin Kizi" and Mogollar’s "Reve Kaleidoscopique".
