Here we have the multi-talented Stefano Guzzetti doing some solo work outside of his Waves On Canvas alias, and it is as the title suggests an album of piano playing, and a rather lovely one at that. It's sentimental soundtrack-esque stuff with big gracefully ringing chords and elegiac melodies and a beautiful warm earthiness to the playing. The picture on the front looks weirdly like I did as a kid but I'm pretty sure it's not me. I expect it's the composer as a child or a child he knows or a child a photographer knows.

Back to the music though, as I was saying this is dead lovely. It's reminding me a little of Nils Frahm's 'Screws' LP, or maybe Olafur Arnalds, just really simple, beautiful piano music with lots of graceful note clusters bundling together into trails of ringing, ethereal chords. The sentimentality of the melodies is reminding me a little of that Ghibli soundtrack LP, but this is more understated and intimate, which gives it a kind of sombre intensity. Really nice.
