Chess Club celebrate seven years of putting out records with this lavish double LP compilation with a die-cut gatefold sleeve and printed inners. It's a nice thing. On it you will find a selection of 20 tracks from the label's history, some of which are hard to find on their original releases now, from everyone from Mumford & Sons, Wave Machines and White Lies to more recent success stories like MO and Jungle.   The compilation seems to go in phases. On the first side there's a load of folksters including the aforementioned Mumford, The Middle East and Jay Jay Pistolet, then on side 2 there's a load of confident synth-rock stuff from people like Wave Machines and Post War Years, then if you overlook Exlovers' chiming Teenage Fanclubisms the bulk of side 3 concentrates on their soulful futurepop side with Chet Faker and Ms Mr joining Jungle and MO.   Finally side 4 mops things up with a grab bag running the gamut from the blasting teen rock of Baby Strange to the dreamily upbeat synthpop of Swim Deep. If you're a fan of this label's releases you will find it a well-sequenced and enjoyable compilation.
