Post-punk legends Killing Joke have compiled their favourite dub mixes from throughout their 35-year career on this mammoth 3CD collection I'm listening to now. It's pretty much what you would expect, if you expect dub tracks with chunky distorted guitars, stomping industrial-ish reggae beats, digital violence, dub echo galore, the odd bit of toasting...it's Killing Joke...in Dub. What do you think is going to happen?

It's very hard to review this because it does exactly what it says it will. The press release covers all the salient factual info and you probably already have a decent idea if you like Killing Joke and/or dub and the thing is four hours long! I've digested the first disc, though, and found it surprisingly entertaining, liking both Killing Joke and dub as I do. It has been peripheral to what they do for a long time and it's interesting to hear the often unusual results put in the spotlight here.

A lot of the mixes find a middle ground between crunchy guitar mush and hard dub beats but then the dynamic lift of the gut-punching trebly guitar and cool dub reggae bounce of 'Ghosts of Ladbroke Grove Portobello Dub' bring a whole new set of vibes to the table and I think I like it. Then there's some jazzy Eastern stuff going on that I like too. There's too much here to give any kind of meaningful analysis without literally spending all day on it but I am finding it both interesting and enjoyable.
