Nice little single here from the mighty K Records from The Shivas. It's a slinky bit of tropical indie rock'n'roll complete with hi-gain vocals and handclaps and a twangy slightly out of tune guitar. It's got a very authentic '60s garage pop feel to it with some tasty doo-wop backing vocals and a simple melody that has potential to get stuck in your head if you're not careful.
There's two shorter tracks on the flip. 'Whiteout' is a reverby surf track with a cheeky little reference to the Surfaris' 'Wipeout' at the start. In fact there's various nonsensical vocalisations throughout keeping the densely reverbed textures chaotic in quite an effective way. I'm a sucker for a surf instrumental and this is a good one. 'So Far Out Of Control' heads in the other direction and is a shuffly bit of BJM-esque '60s mumble-pop with a sneakily infectious melodic hook.
This is an excellent single, the songs are very different from one another but they all sound cool.
