9/10 Mike Staff review, 13 March 2014

Oh, this is nice! Here's a carefully picked selection of disco-flavoured Bollywood classics from the late '70s and early '80s. I've been having a very good time listening to this but its basic premise is so self-explanatory that I'm struggling to find much to expand on that. It's been lovingly compiled by a character called Brother Cleve who has put together some informative liner notes to give some much-needed historical context, as well as a track-by-track breakdown which is informative and readable.

Suffice to say you will find your fair share of danceable rhythms, synths, strings and brass in an unstoppable east-meets-west dance party that veers from slinky polyrhythmic subtlety to Moroder-inspired instrumentals to brightly arranged orchestral pop and even the inspired closer of Salma Agha & Bappa Lahiri's cheeky 'Thriller'-a-like 'Jeena Bhi Kya Hai Jeena (Part 2)'. Lovers of disco and/or Bollywood will find it a total riot, right up there with Finders Keepers' recent horror-themed 'Bollywood Bloodbath' in terms of wall-to-wall quality with a fair dose of tongue-in-cheek silliness. Recommended.
