Just freaked the gaffer out by proclaiming I hated this. 'But Clint is tweeting this ASAP!' he barks back at me. Um sorry, I had confused it with something else on Captured Tracks which is still way better than most NY labels.

Perfect Pussy, apart from having a great logo, a smirky name and a gutsy shouty girl for a singer are quite stunning, in an early Sonic Youth meets Be Your Own Pet fashion. See, I daredn't google them to count the number of actual other girls in the band.....as I may just get a face-full of what I shouldn't be getting paid for and will subsequently fail to complete the review. Phil may never again give me the CDs with raunchy names!

'Say Yes To Love' is a strangely optimistic title for a dirgy indie-punk record - they certainly sound a little annoyed about something. Amidst the sonic abrasion, de-tuned guitar scrawl, impassioned chanting and kitchen-sink production something quite wonderful evolves. They'd possibly sound a little average in the hands of those producers who cluelessly ruin and gloss over the true soul and fire of this hearty style of music but but I kid you not, PP (I will be googling later!) offer up a real fierce primal onslaught and not only get right in your face but also possess a wicked way with a catchy tune without being mere straight-up pop-punk or saccharine pogo-day-glo.

They're esentially a jagged pop band for the large part; myriad strong hooks buried way beneath the spiky melee, ultimately impressing me for all times with the unusual genre-bending 'VII' - a truly stunning and atmospheric no-wave electro/noise-inspired finale! It has the essence of a band such as Crass without really stealing owt from them. However, please do not just go check that one out before hearing everything else they have to say! This is a well-formed album that demands immediate replay. Maybe the virginal white plushy corporate-style packaging is intentionally ironic but kinda makes sense the more you hear it. Aw, Captured Tracks, yr right back in my good books!

A real surprise for myself as so much indie punk or art rock sounds nothing as exciting as this. x

9/10 Andy Customer review, 13th August 2014

At a succinct length, the album does exactly what it needs to do without a second to spare. Say Yes To Love feels like a purging, 20-odd minutes of urgent expulsion that leaves you feeling exhausted, elated and renewed. Their thorny noise pit might occlude itself to many listeners--it’s not pretty, and it’s not for everyone. Those who recognize themselves in the havoc, though, will find themselves nesting there for a long while to come.
