All the true punks already know they need this. Here's S.O.A.'s eight-song first demo on a 7", only three songs of which have been released before. S.O.A. were of course Henry "Rollins" Garfield's first band, which makes them pretty historically significant despite only playing nine shows.

The music is rough'n'ready proto-hardcore punk fun, roughly recorded, snotty, fast and antisocial. The youthful Rollins barks away gruffly while the rest of the band dig in with some hard, fast and simple angst-riffing. I'm surprising myself with how little I have to say about this but it's just straight down the line hardcore punk done properly, before anyone else was doing it, by a bunch of angry suburban kids.

I love the goofy "Thanks Mom!" that young Hank tags on to the end of 'Disease'. This band still sounds great.
