Phil, being the whip-bearer wants these in by midday. But my midday is 3pm. I don't know or care if these reach the crazy deadlines set by these driven maniacs (You are a PEST - Clint).
I care about THE MUSIC , MAN.
So this is a chilled CD on the ever precise and elegant Kompakt. It's quite good and sounds really "nice". I think it is written to be played on a beach on Hawaii whilst beautiful girls give you massages and iced absinthe.
I like loads of the stuff on Kompakt. But sadly, not this one. The Field album blew my tits off. This is also beautifully produced electronic music but it's more along the lines of Lamborghinis, perfect expensive furnishings and fucking balconies.
Ones you chuck yourself off, champagne glass in hand.
7/10 Mark Customer review, 13th April 2014
The Vermont LP comes neatly packaged with an embossed cover and a weighty vinyl cut. The same can be said for the production, each piece consists of hefty edits from a range of vintage gear that has been meticulously programmed almost to the point of it being a showcase for pristine sound rather than the music. This is understandable as it is one of the first collaborations by Marcus Worgull and Danilo Plessow and perhaps, they have yet to venture towards more complex compositional techniques. That is not to say that this album is not worthwhile. I found it to be mixed well with several of my krautrock albums that border the pastiche like Roedelius’ Wenn Der Südwind Weht. The Vermont LP has some really great moments. A beautiful guitar lead piece on Rückzug and an inspiring piece with Montag. I would have to say that the Katzenjammer would be the favorite of the house due to the distinct meowing of cats in the distance. This playful approach to sound design and reflection on their environment is refreshing, removing most of the seriousness that is inherent in the cleanliness of the album. So for the vintage and modular enthusiasts out there, this album is essential. For those that are looking for something that carries a bit more substance, you may be let down. Best case is you listen to some clips for yourself and let your ears do the deciding.
