Guys. This should so be in Mike’s pile. Who the hell are Ausmuteants? Seemingly a lo-fi synth punk garage act from the Southern Hemisphere incorporating elements of Geelong’s wonderful Living Eyes and micro-bands such as Hierophants, Frowning Clouds etc. The real cream of the Aussie underground? This single would have been right in my bag 20 odd years ago when I was still the import 7” buff that I sadly am no longer so. I feel like a wreath to my former personality is required as this 1 sided 2-tracker is such a noxious, feral but lively and catchy blast of slacker garage wonderment I cannot stop playing it.

I missed the update  deadline yet again today much to the disdain of editor in chief Clinton so I’m sat here trying to decide whether I adore the opener “Felix…...’ with its meandering, relentless chaotic and brutally frayed  lo-fi fuzz-punk euphoria means the most to me, its nihilistic mantra-like lyric derived from the title.

Or is it the astonishing earworm that is titled ‘15 Frames Per Second’ which appears under the lo-fidelity murk to have a more female sounding chanty vocal and a proper wonky insistent thrift-store synth stab replete with some lush little chord changes. there’s a manic genius pop nous at work here I swear. Hearing the full length album from these would be most welcome, the spindly DIY production makes me shiver with delight as I can hear the abandonment of inhibition, unabashed energy and gleeful love they are are throwing into this mix SO, SO profoundly.

Two real rough-cut diamonds. I so wish there were more. At least another two on the other side. (I now quietly SOB onto my cold coffee).
