Beginning with voice all of a croak amongst some clatter and discordant piano notes, the second part of the track sounds like a duck quacking along to Simple Minds ‘Alive and Kicking’ but having toured with Chelsea Light Moving 4AD can’t have signed another dud have they?

Well it finally get going into a kind of 80’s sounding kraut-ish jam. The nearest comparison is the earlier work of the aforementioned Simple Minds. I’m also reminded of the freeform rock of the likes of Secret Machines. Eventually a Happy Mondays like piece of discordant guitar enters the mix and finally the track takes off with a wibbly solo and some nice feedback ending in a more ambient outro. Its like they’ve tried to distil the history of rock music into one song at times and its nothing if not ambitious. Looking at the credits there were two tracks in there but I couldn’t see where one ended and the other began.

On the B side complete silence which is only a marginal improvement. The jury’s out on this, I’d like to hear more before I go swanning around judging them and the fact that I’m perplexed is possibly a good thing. On concrete grey vinyl.
