I knew the name Simon Pyke was familiar to me but I couldn’t for the life of me recall, until this moment the penny hath finally dropped - I have a couple of his records as Freeform on Skam and he used to do stuff on Worm Interface and all. Unfortunately this record is sealed with a Warp barcode sticker and if I open it to play it some poor unfortunate IDM freak will cry tears of blood all over their Jega records when they get the offending copy through the post. They’ll want a mint sealed copy and then X-ray the download code out of it because apparently there’s only 100 copies of this which is fuck all for summat on Warp is it? It’s exclusively available to independent retailers, comes on 180g audiophile vinyl, one side of which is screen-printed plus the sleeve contains one of a series of four prints. So after 10 minutes with my calculator I was able to deduce that there are in fact only twenty five of each print in existence. The audio is an extended twenty minute version of a soundtrack to an installation by Mr. Pyke himself. What does it sound like? Don’t be lazy and expect me to tell you, hit play on the SoundCloud player. I should sell used cars me.
