Here we have a limited 12” containing of a pair of tunes from a Houndstooth digital compilation, apparently pressed up on wax due to popular demand. Here Special Request aka Paul Woolford and Akkord remix a track each from their respective albums. There’s no info on the label as to which track is a remix of the other’s track but I can tell you that the A-side is like a clonky ghostly dubsteppy tune with sorta hardcore snatches so I think this is most likely Akkord remixing Special Request. It’s a pretty sparse and spacious tune with hissy gaseous atmospherics the odd vocal sample and filtered vamp. A breakbeat and a rolling bassline emerges pushing things forward but the energy never really kicks in, rather it’s a lazy smokey stop/ start affair and somewhat of a tease.

Down below things get darker with dissected jungle rhythms colliding and then some evil acid makes an entrance alongside some spooked synths but again this never erupts into the dancefloor mayhem it suggests. It sounds like acid and jungle slowly being sucked into a vortex. Most definitely my preferred side of the two.
