8/10 Mike Staff review, 20 February 2014

We've got the fourth and fifth entries into Finders Keepers' marvellous series of vintage horror theme 7"s here this week, and the one on my record player right now is this Bruno Nicolai/Roger Roger one. The Nicolai track is led by a sinister reverberating harpsichord which is joined by stabbing strings, shrill touches of woodwind and subtle percussive touches for some good old-fashioned orchestral chills.

The sumptuous Roger Roger track on the other side is quite different, with warmly quivering strings sitting low under some harp twinkling and a beautiful theme squeaked out on a theremin. Again woodwind is used very tastefully but it's some deep, resonant clarinets this time, and there's some lovely xylophone touches at the end. While it is mostly orchestral the theremin gives it a great sort of retro-futuristic feel. Apparently this piece was used in a couple of episodes of The Prisoner, too, which is a valid point of interest.
