John Zorn, he of many forms… On Psychomagia, he takes on the role of composer, laying out a series of arrangements for the band Abraxas to play. Based on various magical writings, Zorn leads the group into ritualistic territories, minimalist avenues, and even a little of Zorn’s usual jazz madness. Released on Zorn’s own Tzadzik label.

7/10 Jack Customer review, 28th June 2017
The name of the band is Abraxas, the same that made the rocks arrangements of Zorn's Book of Angels. Here on Psychomagia they perform a complex new suite write by John Zorn. It's more fresh and direct that the previous album and you can find everything from hard rock, ritualist sounds, minimalists cod etc. Inspired in text of Guiordano Bruno and Alejandro Jodorosky. At the end you can find a good rock record, more easy to hear than others of Zorn, for example Naked City or Pain Killer. Fresh and interesting.
