A sticker on the front of this new CD we've got from Castle Face describes it as "6 bizarre transmissions from the one man synth-tar drum band", and on the inside of the cover we can see this Trin Tran feller for ourselves. He's wearing a sci-fi mask and boiler suit, playing a big ol' synth with an SG strapped around his neck and a couple of cymbals just to the side. Proper old-fashioned one-man band stylings.

As for the music, it probably won't surprise you that this is primitivist garage psych business, there's a mixture of drum machines and simple bass drum thud-a-thons while Mr Tran spits out his surrealist rants like a Dada Mark E Smith crossed with Nobunny. Sometimes the synths take the melodic lead with quite distinct bass and treble parts, other times the synths are droney and he's concentrating on his guitar and drum twitchings.

The deconstructed pop style of his keeps bringing to mind Devo's devolved pop style but this is wackier and less deadpan than they were. It's cool slice of outsider weirdness and I like it.
