Nice bit of dirgey Velvet Undergroundy post-punk here from Primitive Parts. 'Open Heads' is a simple stomper full of crunchily jangling guitars and simple Hammond chords over a basic rhythm section shuffle. It kind of falls somewhere between The Strokes (back in those early days when they thought they were the Velvets reincarnate) and Let's Wrestle. That makes it sound like I think this is bad but really it's fine.

B side 'Signal' is even better thanks to upping the tempo and having a nice scratchy shivery guitar tone, the verses have a cool meandering feel and when it all finallyfalls together in the second verse it's quite satisfying. Loving the louche don't-give-a-shit multi-vocal delivery here, I'd describe it as "obnoxiously lazy" but I really do mean that as a compliment. I'm going to shut up now before I say anything else horrible about this single by accident.

It's perfectly decent post-punky slacker rock! I see there's a Male Bonding and a Sauna Youth involved, that makes sense.
