Here’s my second late review for Dronarivm after the passing of my home tape player. This one is by Segue, who has worked with the collaborator-in-chief Pleq before so it’s safe to assume he knows what he’s doing. This is highly nuanced minimal synth ambience which needs to be listened to loud, preferably on headphones, to fully immerse yourself in the detailed drones, synth pulses and compressed white noise swooshes that make up this finely honed piece of gorgeous dub ambience.
It’s inspired by the indigenous Athabascan culture of Alberta, Canada, and uses sounds sourced from the region alongside some classic synths and tape effects. It’s a little bit new agey but mostly it’s reminding me of the likes of Bvdub and Coppice Halifax. Really calming, contemplative, concordant and sumptuously listenable. If dub ambience is your cup of poutine, I recommend giving this one a go.
