This is the second set of remixes from Erika’s ‘Hexagon Cloud’ album, following versions from BMG, Orphx and Marcellus Pittman on the first volume. Erika is of course Erika Sherman from Detroit electro legends Ectomorph. For the second volume she’s selected a mighty fine line up of artists to rework her tracks: Donato Dozzy (Voices From The Lake), Israel Vines (Borrowed Language), Outer Space (John Elliot of Emeralds/ Mist/ Imaginary Softwoods etc.) and Patrick Russell (?).

Italian Donato Dozzy takes things down his ultra deep ambient techno route with the superb ‘Early Warning Starfield (Donato Dozzy Spiral Synthi Mix)’ that will have you imagine you’re a dust particle floating through space, sparkling in the lunar light. Fresh from a killer remix for Stave, Israel Vines delivers the goods with a fine deep haunting techno remix of ‘Gardeners’. Everything I’ve heard from this chap has been great so it’s clear to see why Interdimensional Transmissions are opening a sub-label to release some of his productions.

The Outer Space mix is cosmic techno as you would imagine but there’s a really grotty bassline that gives it a darker more aggressive dancefloor edge. Finally Patrick Russell reshapes ‘North Hex’, with minimal percussion and a pulsating, throbbing bassline working some magic as it shifts in and out.
Not a single weak mix on this set - Highly recommended.
