Here's a record made in Mali in 1982 by the late Zani Diabate & Super Djata Band. I don't know a lot about Malian music but thankfully there's a lot of information in the press release and an insert if you want to know all the fascinating history behind Diabate and his music.

The five songs on the record itself are really wonderful, hypnotic and danceable polyrhythms, call and response vocal lines, endlessly cycling basslines and Diabate's amazing electric guitar playing taking centre stage much of the time, whether he's playing clever bright repetitive syncopated shapes or, as happens a few times on here, going all out in bright distorted Jimi Hendrix-inspired solos.

It's such vibrant and energetic music that it's almost impossible not to bob your head along to its subtle, cascading grooves. I could listen to this all day, but I won't because I have a lot of reviewing to do!
