Out of the same stable of pop goodness that brought you last years Prophet Hens album this is a much more fragile affair, built on the fey-pop legacy left by the likes of Brits Heavenly and more latterly ‘Allo Darlin than any of the darker stuff from their New Zealand home.

Its all sugary sweet melodies, girl/boy vocals that are sung in the style of a love struck teenager goofed up on bubblegum and cola bottles. There is a slight 60’s girl group twist on some tracks such as ‘Twist’ with its harmonic backing vocals. My favourite track is ‘Himalayers’ which introduces an eerie Verlaines style guitar melody to the proceedings and is waaay better for it. The melody here is really interesting and recalls their forefathers such as The Chills.

A few more tracks like this and the Someloves-like ‘Cold Dalmation’ and its got a better chance of staying on my stereo. However, its perfectly loveable twee-pop which will appeal to fans of Aislers Set, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Wedding Present and Black Tambourine.
