New on Time Released Sound is this split LP between Con_Cetta (Giuseppe Cordaro) and Monologue (Marie e le Rose), the tracks alternate between the two artists throughout the album giving it an almost mixed feel to it, the music is based on an imaginary soundtrack to the Virginia Woolf biography ‘Orlando’. Both artists give a different sound to the piece as a whole with Con_Cetta being more of an electronic style and Monologue edging towards the more classical piano based affair.
The two marry up very nicely though, creating a soothing sound of natural and unnatural atmosphere, the electronics are sparse and glitchy and the piano sometimes treated with various effects and field recordings/found sound, if I were to compare this to anyone it would be that of Susumu Yokota and his often to-ing and fro-ing of electronic and organic.
‘Orlando’ is a nice easy accessible step into the world of minimal electronica, very melodic and strangely natural sounding.
