Resplendent with phenomenal moustache, Frank Fairfield is an old fashioned 25 year old passionate about music from a long long time ago. He plays all sorts of instruments and in a unique and authentic manner. Props as always to Third Man for bringing this type of stuff to a wider audience.
On Side A ‘Duncan and Brady’ is a traditional murder ballad, narrated by his gentle, quivering singing style, accompanied by a lonesome fingerpicked guitar. On the flip he switches to fiddle and is joined by another fiddle player to produce a completely different but similarly authentic piece, the dualling fiddles are joined by Fairfields voice which here sounds remarkably, frighteningly like that of Elizabeth Cotton. Strange and brilliant.
