Somewhere halfway between lounge and IDM, between jungle and pophouse, there lies a mysterious land only accessible by paying homage to Dego & Kaidi. With their dreamy synthscapes and drums so tight I should spell it tite, their self-titled debut is a free flight halfway between partying and dreaming - or both.

Dego and Kaidi Tathan are legends of the scene that never quite blew up like it should have. Broken beat, bruk, nu jazz or whatever (The lack of a clear identity and to some extent a distinct sound rather than the fluid, changing nature of this music probably didn't help it get wider attention) could have been bigger than dubstep. Anyway it seems the time for a return and reappraisal seems to have come.

Kaidi and Dego have put together a lovely 4 tracker of liquid, jazzy grooves. Both contemporary sounding as well as a throwback to that mid 90's sound it is perhaps testament to how far ahead the original records were that this sounds fresh still. Skippy techno beats, lovely work on the keys from Kaidi, bass at the right time, these are delicious grooves. Dig in and get ready for the second coming of broken beat...maybe
