Tuareg guitarist and singer Koudede was a greatly respected musician in his native Niger, helping give a voice to "the Tuareg struggle against exploitation and to exalt their proud but waning nomadic heritage" until his tragic death in a car crash in 2012. The wonderful Sublime Frequencies are doing their bit to preserve his legacy with this excellent series of reissues. You can read about the political turbulence surrounding (and even directly affecting) the recording of these tracks in the press release, it's interesting.

The music itself is excellent. Really well recorded, hypnotic guitar music with call and response vocals, lively percussion played on a trap kit, and nimble repetitive guitar patterns. It's energetic, danceable music with tons of spirit and soul and emotion. I wish I could tell what the lyrics were about. As with the previous instalments, this is worth your money.
