Hot on the heels of last years Soul Jazz Records Punk 45 compilation is Volume 2 in the same series, here we have the same kind of quality punk and new-wave gems that the first volume was filled with. Taken from the years 1977-1981 and bursting at the seams with raucous tales of disassociated youth and out and out punk-rock classics. While the first volume concentrated on the American underground, this however turns its sights onto the British scene of the late seventies.

Getting straight to the nitty gritty with classics like ‘Neutron Bomb’ by the Art Attacks and other great bands of the genre like The Mekons, Television Personalities and Swell Maps, again featuring a lavish booklet full of band biographies, exclusive photos and original record artwork. Soul Jazz are renowned for these amazing collections no matter what style of music they feature and this is another in a long line of seamless compilations from the label.

7/10 Andy Customer review, 13th August 2014

With the Sex Pistols et al in the vanguard and the limelight, across the country bands sprung up to peddle their own brand of anger and disillusionment, and here is a collection of some of the best. Anyone with memories of the time will see a couple of familiar names, such as the Mekons and the Killjoys, but there are lesser known gems too. Some clever lyrics that you wouldn't get away with in any other genre, and the opening lines of 'Mucky pup' should be listened to after lunch, not before. Nice accompanying booklet that gives a real feel for the period. Go on, annoy the neighbours!
