7/10 Clinton Staff review, 03 January 2014

Its 57 different varieties of ambience today. This is the second of this weeks releases on Own Records. The two contributing artists worked at long distance and added their parts to each others work in real time in order, presumably,  to create an improvised feel to the proceedings. What we have is dark ambience, quite warm textures but lacking the real atmospheres or melodies to catapult it into the Basinski league.

The opening track ‘(in)’ seems to consist of bowed objects such as perhaps a mixing bowl. The most defined track ‘A Beacon, Peace And A Steambath’ has twinkling atmospherics and bell like effects over the hissing sound of rainfall and has a slo-mo beauty to it which glides nicely into the hushed withdrawn drones of In Need Of Rest, Psalm of Palms’. Overall a nice record and a worthy collaboration.
