- Rosemary's Baby (Original Motion Picture Score) by Christopher Komeda

Waxwork Records have quickly joined Death Waltz and Mondo as a trusted name for beautifully presented horror soundtrack reissues. First Re-Animator, then Day Of The Dead, and now the piece de resistance - Christopher Komeda's score to 1968's 'Rosemary's Baby', undoubtedly one of the creepiest films ever made.
The spine-tingling theme with its haunting vocal refrain hits you straight of the blocks, underpinned by subtly discordant strings, to be repeated in several distinct variations over the course of the score. Elsewhere there's passages of chanting, lounge jazz, and lots of massed strings building a Bernard Herrmann-ish paranoia. It's one of those films where the music really goes a long way to establishing the mood, and the steadily mounting tension through the album is testament to that.
I don't really need to tell you that this is good, or what it sounds like, because you've seen the film and you already want this. Lovely clear vinyl, gatefold sleeve, art print, the works. Go on, treat yourself.
10/10 Moorepa55 Customer review, 11th March 2014
Fantastic horror soundtrack which manages to be beautiful, jazzy, ominous and downright terrifying all at the same time. Komeda swings effortlessly between gorgeous melodies and spine tingling discordance. Nice packaging, too.
