So this label released the first single by Lana Del Ray and she turned out OK, right? The next thing we need to watch out for is BBC’s tips for 2014, in which Charlotte OC will no doubt feature.

What we have here is yet another variety of your Florence/Lana/Lorde/London Grammar type piano ‘n’ wail. The type of vocals that are either ‘soulful’ or ‘Annie Lennox being sick’ depending on your viewpoint. ‘Colour of My Heart’ is by-numbers, executive-approved emota-pop with ‘inspirational’ lyrics about living the dream, making it through etc.

For every ying there's a yang, for every fish there’s a chip, and for this A side the B side is much more of a slink-a-long with clipped bass and a funky drum beat. It could be a harder-edged Sade if it weren’t for the wailed vox. Nice fringe though.
