Swiss singer-songwriter Sophie Hunger releases this live double 10” on the Two Gentlemen label, having a mixture of influences from jazz to classical to folk and beyond it’s quite hard to pin down this girl on the first listen, especially as the opening track is sung entirely in Swiss, as I get deeper into this record though it starts to reveal much more.

With a beautifully soulful voice and a tight live backing band I can’t help but think of a female Jeff Buckley, all the same trademarks are there, especially in the fact that she can go from intensely quiet to full on rock-out and then drop down to a little folk lament is all very Buckley-esque, this is not a bad thing at all though. As a live set it’s all very intimate but brilliantly produced as live albums can have a lot of background noise, being new to Sophies work I’m pleasantly intrigued to find out more about this Swiss songstress, as will you I hope?
