Another set of remixes from the These Hidden Hands debut album. Here Atom TM A.K.A old hand Uwe Schmidt is faithful to the original sound palette yet somehow manages to make it all his own. The only trouble is that annoying vocal that bugged me in the original version of ‘When Told’. It sounds like some bloke muttering the words with a gob full of mash. Having said that it doesn’t appear for long enough as to destroy the tune so thankfully what we have is a damn fine techno track with some cracking synthlines and I can well imagine getting totally lost in it at 4AM.

I like Kangding Ray a lot when he gets pretty bangin’ and his remix of ‘Diesel’ delivers the goods with a stomping techno rhythmic framework over which it sounds like loads of machines are breaking and malfunctioning around the groove, dissolving in clouds of echo and delay.

No Surprises with the Ancient Methods remix of ‘Isopod’, well it’s not a skull crushing as some of AM productions but it’s still pretty darn heavy with mechanical marching drums, gloomy drones and fizzing electronics.
